Games I Got Recently #1

I was at my local Blockbuster and they were having a big summer sale, so I managed to snag a couple old games:

UEFA 2008 :  $2.50 (My favourite of the 3)
Virtua Fighter 5: $2.50
Soldier of Fortune: Payback: $2.50

The games are pretty fun and refreshing, but SOF is pretty mediocre, and Virtua Fighter can be a little repetitive.

Updown.com

I feel like I should post this to thank this wonderful site..

Updown.com is a great site that lets you invest $1,000,000 fake dollars into stocks. It helped me to learn alot about the stock market and I'm having a great time with it. I highly recommend it.

Updates to the Blog

Today, I added a fun little pinball game at the bottom of the page. Feel free to try it out. It's no Grand Theft Auto, but it's a good time waster. Enjoy!

Thoughts on Buying Video Games

The thing about video games is that there is really no way that the price of a game will ever rise, because there are always newer and better games being released. Aswell, with increased competition in the trade-in game market (EB Games, Futureshop, Best Buy, Blockbuster, Microplay, etc.) the prices are starting to drop at a faster rate then we've ever seen. An example of this is Brutal Legend. It made it's debut at $69.99 in October 2009, and by May of 2010 the price had dropped to $15-20. When I consider buying a game, I usually set a price point at which to pick it up, and when it hits that price point I make the purchase. It's a shame to lose half the value of the game within 3 months of buying it, so I would wait until it's on sale rather than paying $70. Of course, there are some exceptions, like Call of Duty 4, which has held it's value for what? 2-3 years now?

Book Recommendation - Week of August 3, 2010

My book recommendation for this week is Direct Red - A Surgeon's View of Her Life - Or - Death Profession, by Gabriel Weston. I am almost finished reading this book and can honestly say that I enjoyed every minute of it. There were some parts that made me nauseous, but other than that I found it very interesting. 9/10. Check it out HERE.

PS3 Trade #1

I just recently traded my Uncharted 2 and Call of Duty: MW2 for Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto IV. I can't stop playing Grand Theft Auto, it's the first time I've ever played it and it's fantastic! A review should be coming soon. I haven't even touched RDR yet because I'm so engulfed in GTA. Anyways, back to the trade. I realize that the values of the games would result in me losing money, but since I had completed Uncharted and had COD on the 360, I felt that the trade was justified.

Time to Invest in BP?

Hi again,

The oil spill in the gulf was a terrible thing, there's no question about that. However, would this not be a good time to invest in BP? They're a huge company, and they're stock is at an all time low now. They should recover now that the spill is done. They're too big to go down because of the spill, in my opinion. I'm not saying that we should try and benefit from the catastrophe, I'm simply looking at this from a business standpoint.

First Post!

Hello,

Thank you for visiting my blog. I will hopefully update the blog often, and fill you in with what I think about things like stocks, video games, cell phones, mp3 players, and ordinary things. It'll be a fun little project that will help me occupy my spare time. I sincerely hope that you enjoy my blog and come back to it.

Thanks,
